Connections of Hope & Healing
Nathan Porter, MSW
Nathan has spent the past seventeen years working with individuals, couples and families on how to grow and heal from various issues. What he has found again and again is that when we strengthen the relationships in our lives there is healing. Healing from depression, addictions, anxiety and trauma.
Nathan provides clinical one on one and couples counseling as well as group classes to teach healthy relationships. The classes consist of trauma resiliency training and psychoeducational material to develop good relationship skills with yourself and with others.
When people become “stuck” in their progress he utilizes EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), TRM (Trauma Resiliency Model) and KAP (Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy) for trauma responses and PTSD. In due course, allowing a person to experience the change that occurs from a state of neuroplasticity by dismantling the fear loop cycle that persists from trauma.
Nathan earned a Master of Social Work from Walla Walla University in 2004 and completed his Licensed Clinical Social Work certification in 2007. Since 2008 he has worked in private providing strong clinical services including crisis intervention/suicide prevention strategies and trauma treatment to individuals, couples, children, adolescents, and families dealing with addictions, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, sexual abuse as children and grief and loss and PTSD.
Since 2012 he has also worked as an elementary school counselor creating a trauma informed school and trauma trained response in his school.
Nathan believes in the good that exists in each person. When we learn to see the good in ourselves and each other then we begin to respond in a healing way. It is important to provide a message of hope to ourselves and others each day and Nathan believes he can show you how to do this if this is something you really want.
